Styling your favourite pieces for your Etsy shop.

I often have days where I can venture into our city and if cleverly planned visit my favourite places.

I like to buy pieces that have an aesthetic feel about them or a kind reminder of the past. Then it’s easy to add to my object library for future prop projects. I use them to enhance what I make – – handstitched curiosities for all sorts of occasions.

When I’m searching for props I keep in mind that they are inexpensive, may have a quirky quality to them so visiting local second-hand stores ensures I continue this vibe, and know that it will take great photos.

Today it was a box of dog pins… I love old boxes.. they can be used, worn, tested, wrapped in vintage ribbon…the list is endless… i love the dog pins – they would certainly make a nice touch to a photo. I brought it home and put a newly handmade bat in it and it worked.

Here’s another of my designs of a little bird in a small card box. I made word cards with early 19th century wooden stamps as the background.

This bat and bird are for sale in my etsy shop along with other quirky characters on Sunday 10th September. From there just follow the links.
